Tri Asai (3 Pieces) - 9 Panel Construction

Trai Asai, also called Trai Baeng, is a smaller, three piece set of monastic robes kept as a spare for everyday use.  It is suitable for regular day to day wear in the monastery or for making merit (including dedicating merit to the departed), but it is not used for formal religious rites such as ordination.  It consists of three main pieces: the jiwon, the sabong, and the angsa.

9 panel construction refers to how many separate fabric pieces are cut and stitched together to form one robe cloth.  The higher the number of panels, the more pieces are joined.  It is a monk’s robe set for wearing, with the main robe sewn in 9 panels/sections (the Jiwon is stitched together from 9 cloth panels/strips, in the traditional patchwork style)

  • Double‑Stitched Only: Sewn with double seams (Mot seam) for neatness and durability.
  • No Single Seam Option: Single‑seam stitching is not available.
