Tri Krong (Full/Formal Monk’s Robe Set) - 9 Panel Construction

Trai Khrong is the full seven piece robe set, used for important ceremonies and when a monk leaves his kuti (monk’s quarters) or takes part in formal acts of the Sangha (sanghakamma).  It is the complete set of robes that a monk wears in accordance with the Vinaya for both significant religious rites and daily discipline.  The set consists of seven main pieces: the jiwon, sabong, sanghati, angsa, a chest wrap, a waist sash, and a receiving cloth.  It is an important set of requisites presented by the preceptor on the ordination day, and under monastic discipline it should be kept close and not separated from the body.

9 panel construction refers to how many separate fabric pieces are cut and stitched together to form one robe cloth.  The higher the number of panels, the more pieces are joined.   It is a monk’s robe set for wearing, with the main robe sewn in 9 panels/sections (the Jiwon is stitched together from 9 cloth panels/strips, in the traditional patchwork style)
  • Double‑Stitched Only: Sewn with double seams (Mot seam) for neatness and durability.
  • No Single Seam Option: Single‑seam stitching is not available.
